Position Title: Machine Operator / Manufacturing Technician

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Department: El Cajon - Manufacturing/Production Department

Position Summary:

Set-up and operate equipment related to the manufacturing of products; monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures and related controls to ensure adherence to production specifications and quality standards; perform testing to verify production conditions and quality standards; report any malfunctions or abnormalities and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment; and maintain operating records and reports of test results. Inspect finished tubing products, using visual and dimensional inspection techniques.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Move, stage and prepare materials, consisting of sheet metal, tubing and other materials for machine processing, forming, etc.

2. Follows detailed instructions (traveler) in the operation of production machining equipment to process materials to conform to production specifications and quality standards.

3. Monitor machines and equipment, meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures and related controls to ensure adherence to production specifications and quality standards.

4. Make minor repairs or adjustments to equipment, and notify concerns, abnormalities, and malfunctions to senior personnel.

5. Complete and maintain detailed operating records and reports of test runs and production runs.

6. Inspect finished tubing products, using visual and dimensional inspection techniques, in accordance with traveler.

7. Move material and finished product around the plant to other areas, requiring use of forklift, lifting of product weighing up to 50 lbs.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Some trade school, R.O.P or other training or apprentice experience in machining or machine technology is a plus.

Experience: A minimum of one (1) years' experience as a machine operator or related experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Technical and mechanical aptitude, acquired through applied mechanics, in the military, or in a manufacturing or a related industry is required. Experience with conventional or CNC machining of close tolerance machined metal parts or components is a plus.

Knowledge: Knowledge of the workings of a manufacturing or production environment is required.

Skills: Excellent mathematic skills are required. Skill in reading detailed instructions, communicating effectively, and listening actively are also required. Skilled in reading and understanding blueprints, work instructions, and product specifications is a plus. Must be able to following instructions and work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team. Must be comfortable working in a production-oriented environment, traveling throughout the plant to perform job duties.

Abilities: Must be willing and able to work all three shifts: 1st shift: 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., 2nd shift: 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., and 3rd shift: 11:30 p.m. - 7:15 a.m.
