Position Title: Quality Assurance Manager
Reports To: General Manager
Department: Poway - Quality Systems
Position Summary:
Manages Quality Engineering and QC personnel, in a business growth environment; using above average communication and interpersonal skills. Directs and maintains the quality management system (QMS) and associated activities including: internal audits, document control, quality system certification audits (i.e., ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100). Applies knowledge and experience with dimensional inspection using CMM, optical comparator, and standard measurement tools.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage and direct the priorities and activities of Quality Engineering and Inspection Dept personnel
2. Work closely with Production Manager and Supervisors to establish priorities, qualify processes, and effectively address process quality issues
3. Maintain and conduct personnel performance reviews for direct reports
4. Work closely with the QE and Mfg Engineers to establish formal inspection plans addressing in-process and final inspections necessary to satisfy customer requirements
5. Identify in-process and final inspection needs and ensure proper training with documentation of Inspection and production personnel to ensure methods and tools are properly applied
6. Identify and purchase necessary tools and equipment to support inspection plans
7. Work closely with Operations team to identify opportunities for variation reduction and implement process improvements
8. Facilitate Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies to ensure effectiveness of inspection procedures
9. Work directly with customers, suppliers, and internal personnel to establish consistent inspection techniques and resolve issues
10. Establish and implement supplier qualification plans
11. Maintain and write procedures
12. Direct and maintain the quality management system (QMS) and associated activities including: internal audits, document control, quality system certification audits (i.e., ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100)
13. Oversee and implement company Cause and Corrective Action (CCA) /Preventive Action systems
14. Work closely with the G.M. to establish and integrate Quality Objectives throughout the organization
15. Perform other related duties.
Position Requirements
Education: High school diploma; technical trade school (apprenticeship). College coursework and/or a Bachelors degree a plus.
Experience: Three (3) or more years of managerial experience within a Quality Department. Direct/hands-on manufacturing and inspection experience.
Knowledge: Quality Engineering, Quality Control, dimensional inspection techniques for machined components including CMM, GR&R, auditing, procedure writing, document control, quality systems certifications (i.e. ISO, AS), formal corrective/preventative action, fundamental SPC concepts and application experience.
Skills: Above average skills with; leadership, communication, facilitation, organization, interpersonal, problem solving, computer (adept with MS Office, including; Excel, Outlook & Word).
Abilities: Organize and prioritize tasks and make sound decisions, while working with frequently changing priorities and deadlines.
