Position Title: Quality Inspector

Reports To: Quality Manager

Department: Oceanside - Quality Assurance

Position Summary:

Utilize quality inspection and quality assurance tools and visual systems to inspect precision dental implant, prosthetic, and surgical components at ultra-close tolerances, using micrometers, comparators, calipers, and vision system equipment. Inspect parts in a production machining, ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 environment. Positions open on 2nd shift, four days a week, M-TH, 3:15 p.m. until 1:45 a.m.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Read and interpret traveler, blueprints, tolerances specifications, and other product specifications to inspect product dimensions with tight tolerances (such as ±.0005). Perform repetitive inspection of parts in a production machining environment, both in-process and final inspections.

2. Use and calibrate measurement tools and equipment including comparators, micrometers, calipers, and toolmaker's microscopes. Utilize vision system and other inspection equipment.

3. Complete traveler and quality inspection reports, documenting results completely and accurately.

4. Identify quality issues and findings, following quality procedures.

5. Perform other tasks and assignments in the Quality department as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Some college coursework is preferred. An AA or AS degree is a plus, but not required.

Experience: Two (2) or more years' experience in quality inspection, preferably in a precision machining environment. Experience inspecting dimensions of medical or dental products with tight tolerances such as ± .0005 is required. Experience or familiarity with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 is preferred.

Knowledge: Knowledge of quality inspection processes, systems, techniques and methods required.

Skills: Candidates must have skills in the use of vision system inspection methods and in the use of measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, and toolmaker's microscopes. CMM experience a plus. Strong shop mathematical skills. Basic computer skills are required along with effective communication and interpersonal skills. Must be resourceful and a self-starter, able to work both independently and as a member of a team. Requires highly developed fine motor skills with attention to detail. Must be comfortable working in a production-oriented environment, traveling throughout the plant to perform job duties.

Abilities: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing drawings. Ability to comprehend mechanical standards and measurements. Ability to perform repetitive inspection of small parts and components with several dimensions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and interfaces with employees at all levels of the organization.
